Text messaging has become one of the most popular means of communicating and is used heavily throughout one’s day. Text messaging though is not just a cut and dry thing and just like normal face to face conversation, has its up and down moments. Typically the type of text message interaction is based on numerous variables, such as time, place, type of relationship and personality.
Here are eight of the most popular texters on Whatsapp.

1. The Non Spelling Bee
We all know this person. The 1 tht txts lik ts. The one that uses acronyms and sms lingo constantly. Nothing wrong with sms lingo like a LOL or IDK, once in a while is perfectly acceptable. Just don’t throw the entire dictionary out of the window. We still want to understand what you say.

2. The Picture Sender
This is the person that constantly bombards you with images of funny internet memes for an appropriate conversation. These are the people who send memes instead of texting a joke. It has its benefits and can be incredibly funny – when used in context and mutual understanding. Sending pictures every minute is a bit overkill (plus it eats data).

3. The Voice Note Vocalist
This is the person who is too lazy to type a text message and too broke to phone. The voice note is perfect when wanting to give a quick message when unable to type , but constantly sending back voice messages back and forth on Whatsapp instead of texting, well defeats the purpose. Rather phone and have a meaningful conversation – or better yet meet up, and communicate the “old fashioned way.” There is always that awkwardness of listening to a 2 minute long voice note and then being that person that replies with a four word sentence. Don’t go there!

4. The Texting Ghost
“Ghosting” is probably one of the worst things in the Whatsapp universe. Ghosting, for those unfamiliar with the term is when a person reads a text message but only responds a day later or worse, never responds. Not a good idea to text something important to this individual – it will only test your patience. Best advice is to wait it out and not be that person in point number 5.

5. The Impatient Individual
Ah, we have all encountered this individual who has the patience level of a five year old. If you do not reply to this person’s text message instantly then upon checking your phone you may get five new messages which look like this:
What are you doing? – 10:03
?? – 10:05
????????????? – 10:12
Where are you?????????? 10:14
Not good. Good things take time dear friends.

6. The Novelist
This is the person who likes to type and type and type. Sharing stories, habits and daily routines. This person also likes to express him or herself constantly and is horrified when they receive a short reply. All that effort for nothing!? Novelists normally mimic real life conversations in text messages to keep things interesting. They just hope that the other person also gets into it.

7. The Minimalist
The minimalist is the Novelist’s biggest source of frustration on whatsapp. The minimalist likes to keep things simple and straight to the point. No need for emotion here people. The minimalist uses whatsapp to get information, set up meetings and confirm stuff. Their use of one-liners are legendary with a “okay” “k” or “cool” being their go to words.
Example: “I just got my driver’s licence!”
“K”

8. The Groupie
This is the person who loves to initiate private conversations on Whatsapp groups with another individual. They also reply on every request on a whatsapp group. They also try to post anything to get a response. A group is there for a reason – use it accordingly. Keep it public or private – no grey areas here.
