Crater Crickets hop into community cleaning
Rotary Parys roped in various organisations from Parys to help with the riverside cleanup for the past weekend’s local parkrun along the Vaal River. The organisations that took part were the Crater Crickets, Parys Rotary, Weiveld Hotel and Agricultural School and Parys parkrun. From left are Maki, herself disabled and working tirelessly at Epilepsy SA and the Parys Arts Market (PAM) - fundraiser for the Tumahole Self-help Association for the Disabled (TSHAD), her daughter, Phunyeletso (3rd from left in front), Sean Rourke and his friend, Gerhard Cruywagen with their “Crater Crickets”, Renee de Jong Hartslief (Parys Rotary president) and fellow Rotarian Prisca van Wyk with some of the Rotary Interact students from Weiveld Hotel and Agricultural School in front of her. They are Felicity, Neo and Kgaletso. Karen Addison was the Parys parkrun director for the day, flanked by Graham, one of the Alborough family parkrun stalwarts. Not pictured but active on the day were Dave Neill and their three Crater Crickets. They are now looking forward to the Parys Arts Market to be held at the Mosepidi Hall this Saturday, 17 September, as well as future Crater Cricket events and the 100th Parys parkrun on 1 October.
