Grens Street: Contractor back on site says municipality

The Ngwathe Municipality has, this week, commented on the Grens Street project for the first time.
It stated on Monday that the construction had been stopped for only two weeks, when “we were sorting out some reports with the contractor.”
“From today, 18 April, the contractor is back on site and the work is continuing.”
“We want to apologise to the community in Vaal Parys for the inconvenience that might be caused during the construction of this street.
We appeal for their patience for the next four months, the  time we expect it will take to complete the project.”
Mr Thomas Nopheche further confirmed that the Fezile Dabi District Municipality is funding the project.
“It involves the rebuilding of  about 1.5 kilometres of Grens Street. We will spend about R10 million on this project as part of the district municipality’s responsibility to assist local munici-palities in spee-ding up service delivery.”
Nopheche added that the district municipality had already completed a number of projects in the four local municipalities within the Fezile Dabi borders.
These include, among others, the Kruis Street project in Parys and the beautification of Tumahole.
