The event is held annually and aims to bring celebrities closer to the community and to give back to the community. Celebrities such As Sophie Ndaba of Generations fame, Amanda Dupont from Skeem-sam and Lerato Moloi, also from Generations along with others had the crowd in cheers. The stars also got their hands dirty by painting some of the houses and also planting grass in preparation of the handover of the houses due to take place next week.

“Our aim as the Human Settlements Department is to build sustainable and efficient partnerships with the private sector and also promoting integrated human settlements. All different housing types have been integrated in this project.”

Dlamini said that when it comes to matters of housing, the government gives first priority to the elderly, disabled, child-headed families and women-headed families. She urged the community not to sell their RDP houses to people who do not qualify to live in RDP houses. Do not sell the houses, maintain your houses and keep them clean.”
