Police recover illicit cigarettes wort R250 000

Police recovered an illicit cigarettes worth R250 000 and arrested 07 suspects for possession of illicit cigarettes last night at Chloorkop next to Kempton Park.

It is alleged that the police were conducting the normal patrol around the industrial area in Chloorkop when they noticed truck driving to one of the factory. The police called for backup before entering the place.

When the suspects were busy offloading boxes of cigarettes noticed the police they tried to fled and they were caught. Police  confiscated the170 boxes of illicit cigarettes,truck, 02 mercedez benz sprinters and the sedan that were used during the commission of the crime.

All the suspects are detained at Sebenza police station and they will appear at Kempton Park magistrate court on Monday.
