Robust rhino trooper captivates Potch

Towering above the city in all its grandeur and topped with a massive rhino horn, the Parabot was certainly the talk of the town last weekend.

Towering above the city in all its grandeur and topped with a massive rhino horn, the Parabot was certainly the talk of the town last weekend.

The School of Artillery, as part of its 80th birthday celebrations, joined forces with the Paramount Group, Africa’s largest privately-owned defence and aerospace company in bringing the Parabot to Potch. As a symbol of a resistance fighting against rhino poaching, the partnership with the defence force is set to boost conservation efforts by providing endless possibilities through technology and equipment.

Stationed at the Banquet Halls, hundreds flocked to do their bit for the anti-rhino poaching campaign. After paying an entrance fee of only R10, members of the community could add their handprints to the GV6 with all proceeds going to the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT).

Visitors could also take selfies with the continent’s biggest superhero and if adjudged the best, they stand in line to win an Apple Ipad by submitting their photos via the hashtag #ParabotSelfie on Twitter.

Upon exiting the impressive display, Mike’s Kitchen flyers were handed out with two stickers attached to each. Recipients are encouraged to paste these stickers on their bill and by doing so, will be contributing at least 10% of their bill to the EWT, thanks to Mike’s Kitchen.

The steakhouse definitely deserves a thumbs-up for their wonderful act of goodwill.
