SASOLBURG. – The circle at the Jan Haak Road/Paardeberg Street intersection at Naledi is under construction to make provision for the new Sasol ChemCity Eco-Industrial Park main entrance in Jan Haak Road.

Construction work started in early March this year and is expected to be completed towards the end of August. According to Joggie Malherbe, Specialist Site Development at Sasol Enterprise and Supplier Development, this intersection carries more than 12 000 vehicles per day. Safe access to the ChemCity Eco-Industrial Park and the safety of motorists using the intersection were prime concerns during the planning of the circle.

The reconstructed intersection will be enlarged to have a 68m diameter, more or less the size of the Sasol One Circle at the Klasie Havenga/Eric Louw intersection in town. During construction temporary roads are available, but motorists are requested to make use of alternative routes indicated on road signs in the area. Traffic will not be able to cross the intersection along Jan Haak Road. Motorists travelling from Sasolburg to Natref, Safripol and Omnia therefore have to take Pichler and Carl Bosch roads to reach those industries.

Travellers from Vaalpark to Sasolburg have to turn left in Jan Haak Road and then use the detour via Carl Bosch and Pichler roads. Sasol apologises for the temporary inconvenience, but trusts that once the circle has been completed, motorists will reap the benefits of a much safer intersection that promotes efficient traffic flow in the area.
