Findings of National Department of Water & Sanitation to be discussed tomorrow

Protest action still going on

A team from the national department of water & sanitation assessed the water purification plant in Parys today, Tuesday 17 January, after protest action in Parys that started on Sunday as a result of the community’s frustration and anger with constant water supply issues.

The team will have a meeting with the Ngwathe municipal management on Wednesday to discuss their findings and the findings of a previous report and to ask assistance from the department’s engineers to implement some of their suggestions to improve the functioning of the plant on short term.

The Ngwathe Executive Mayor, Cllr Victoria de Beer, also said that other issues such as the clarifiers and filters will be addressed together with the department.

Protest action is still going on at the Tumahole municipal offices and the entrance to Schonkenville. SAPS and Public Order Police members are on the scene.

Please avoid the Parys/Koppies road.

All other entrance routes to Parys are currently still open.
