SASOLBURG. – The big guns of athletics will be in action on Tuesday night at the DP de Villiers stadium during the 4th annual Sasol NWU Senior International Athletics meeting. Gates open at 17:00.
Some the big names that will set the tartan on fire is: Caster Semenya (Olympic Champion 800m and two times world champion), Gena Lofstrant (800m), LJ van Zyl (400m hurdles), Andre Olivier (800m), Henco Uys (800m Varsity Athletic winner this year) , Claudia Heunis (100m H), Reinart van Rensburg (800m), Jerry Mptsau (1500m), Pieter Conradie (400m), Isaac Makwala (Botswana: 400m), Abduraman Samba (Qatar 400m hekkies), Gamal Abukaker (Qatar: 400m H), Mohamed Shaib (Qatar) 400m H
Femi Ogunode Qatar (100m: PB 9,90) and Ali Al-Jassim (Qatar: 400m)
Be sure not to miss the 400m mens race. Isaac Makwala boasts with a personal best of 43.72 s in thi event and is the seventh fastest runner ever over this distance.
The special 300m race…. yes 300m race between Nijel Amos (800m Olympic silver medallist), Caster Semenya and Wanda Nel (Olympic and SA Champion 400m hurdler) and Amantle Montshu (400m World Champion in 2013) will set the track on fire.
