Mountain biking and rugby clinic at Thabela Thabeng

Thabela Thabeng, a resort nestled between the mountains of the Vredefort Dome, will soon be hosting two sports clinics on their beautiful grounds. For the young mountain bikers out there, Dusty Day from Tailwind will be hosting a mountain biking clinic from 27 June to 1 July. This clinic is all about skills development, maintenance and equipment and nutrition and training for beginner and intermediate mountain bikers between the ages of 11 and 18.

For the young mountain bikers out there, Dusty Day from Tailwind will be hosting a mountain biking clinic from 27 June to 1 July. This clinic is all about skills development, maintenance and equipment and nutrition and training for beginner and intermediate mountain bikers between the ages of 11 and 18.

According to Dusty, the clinic focuses on teaching young mountain bikers what to do when they encounter a problem and how to use their supplements and workout programmes in order to excel at this adventure sport.
Costs are R1 350 per person and this includes accommodation and meals.
From 4-8 July, Thabela Thabeng will also be hosting a rugby clinic for young players between the ages of 11 and 13.
This is a player development programme and focuses on safety. A team of sports professionals, comprising Jaco De Waal from the New Zealand Rugby Academy in Wellington; Gerald McPherson, Leopards rugby coach; Tim Yorke-Hart, provincial and national wrestling coach; Sujana Wolmarans, sport and recreation coordinator; Joanita Smit, biokinetics and Louis van Heerden, recreation facilitator and chaperone, works with each player individually.
According to Sujana, the goal of the clinic is to enable players to play safely and prepare them for high school rugby. The programme includes life skills, team playing skills, field management, individual skills, sports safety and rucks.
Costs are R1 500 per person with accommodation and meals included. Coaches and parents are also welcome to join for R750 per coach and R150 per parent.
