The Ngwathe Local Municipality yesterday, Tuesday 4 June, gave a link to their WhatsApp Channel that residents can follow to be alerted of power outages.

Several notices of power outages were  given on the link yesterday, and since early this morning.

This follows after the Office of the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe issued a statement last night (Tuesday 4 June), stating that the electricity network is under immense pressure due to the high usage of electricity in many areas, and to manage this demand and ensure a stable power supply, the municipality will be issuing warnings to areas with high load. “If these areas do not reduce their electricity usage, we will unfortunately have to implement temporary power cuts.” the municipality added.
