Schonkenville welcomes FS Premier and Minister

The premier and Ngwathe's executive mayor, Ms Victoria de Beer Mthombeni, conducted a site inspection before the handover

Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and the Free State Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana, visited Parys on Tuesday morning to hand over title deeds to beneficiaries of Schonkenville.

The handover formed part of a community imbizo, where 100 title deeds, as part of the Title Deeds Restoration Programme, were handed to beneficiaries of BNG homes in Schonkenville, Zamdela and Refengkhotso (Deneysville). The programme launched in September 2023.

Addressing about 200 community members at the Schonkenville Community Hall, Minister Kubayi said the government had delivered millions of houses to deserving and qualifying beneficiaries since 1994.

The premier and Ngwathe’s executive mayor, Ms Victoria de Beer Mthombeni, conducted a site inspection before the handover. They visited the land where people bought sites from the municipality to build houses at what will be known as Extension 8.
