Save the date for Parys Crater Street Mile

The multifaceted approach of the Parys Crater Street Mile makes it a truly unique and prestigious event that involves and benefits the whole community, while offering everyone the perfect opportunity to get involved, participate, and be part of an event that is proving to become an international attraction.

The third Parys Crater Street Mile is scheduled to happen on Saturday, 12 October 2024.

The Parys Rotary Club, in conjunction with Parys Info and Tourism, is presenting this popular community road running event.

In addition to this event being a community-driven project with numerous participants entering to run for fun, it is also a very popular event among the best and elite talent in the South African athletics arena.

The Parys Crater Street Mile is an ASA-sanctioned event, presented under the auspices of Parys Multisport, according to the rules and regulations of World Athletics, Athletics South Africa, and Athletics Free State.

In 2023, the Parys Crater Street Mile was the first event of its kind in the Free State province to be certified as a street mile (1609 metres).

Organisers decided to change the route of the Parys Crater Street Mile in 2024, and certify it again to comply with international standards, rules and regulations.

Athletes participating in the Parys Crater Street Mile from 2024 will be able to break and set new provincial, national and world records in the event.
This event may further be used to qualify athletes for provincial and national team selection.
