‘n Staking deur The Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) wat gister (28 Julie) begin het kan tot ‘n brandstof tekort lei.

 

Ongeveer 23 000 werkers by olieraffinaderye en brandstofdepots het gister oor ‘n loongeskil begin staak. Die werkers eis 9% verhogings terwyl die werknemerorganisasies glo net 6.5% aanbied. Alhoewel petroljoggies nie aan die staking deelneem nie kan dit motoriste raak.

Shell SA asook Sasol het gebeurlikheidsplanne in plek om minimum ontwrigting aan motoriste te verseker. Volgens Clement Chitja van Ceppwawu sal die staking onbepaald aangaan.

Intussen het Automobile Association (AA) motoriste gewaarsku om liewer hulle motors vol te maak en reise te beperk.
