Motor vehicle theft: Police warns business sector and vehicle owners in Parys

Take note that it takes only a few seconds  for these criminals to change the number plates of a stolen vehicle.

The past weekend another vehicle theft had been registered in Parys, bringing the number of vehicle theft cases to 3 for the past three weeks, was said at the Parys CPF meeting on Thursday 25 May.

All three incidents were reported on Saturdays with 2.8 model Fortuners and Toyota bakkies being targetted. It is mostly keyless vehicles that are stolen.

The incidents were reported at the AfriDome, Egweni and in town at a restaurant parking area.

The police warns that the same modus operandi is seen in Sasolburg currently with vehicles stolen at school sport games and at the DP de Villiers Stadium.

Take note that it takes only a few seconds  for these criminals to change the number plates of a stolen vehicle.

Criminals use technology to block the signals of your remote control to your vehicle. Therefor make absolutely sure your vehicle is locked before walking away, and never leave  valuables in your car. Keep your vehicle registration number  at hand in case of theft, as well as copies of your vehicle registration documents and policy documents should you need it in a case of emergency or theft.

Although several emergency and security WhatsApp groups does an amazing job in circulating information immediately should there be vehicle theft, it is advisable to also notify the police and register the case asap at the nearest police station. This will help the police to be alert of areas targetted by criminals, and will also help the police to notify other police stations and units of the police tasked with vehicle theft.
