Mans body found in Vaal River

A body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, has been found this afternoon in the Vaal river near the Ascot-on-Vaal bridge.

A body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, has been found on Monday 20 June in the Vaal river near the Ascot-on-Vaal bridge.

ER24 paramedics, along with Search and Rescue, responded to the scene after receiving reports of an apparent drowning in the area.

Upon arrival, rescue teams and paramedics began searching the area and banks for the patient. Unfortunately, after some time, the search was called off due to poor lighting conditions.

Emergency personnel returned to the scene early in the morning and continued the search for the patient. After several hours, the body of the man was found. Unfortunately, the man showed no signs of life and was declared dead on scene.

It is unsure whether the man fell or jumped off the bridge, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
