Parys represented at Africa’s Travel Indaba

The Indaba is considered one of the most significant events in the tourism industry and serves as a platform to showcase proudly South African products.

Parys Info & Tourism formed part of the Free State exhibition at this year’s 44th annual Africa Travel Indaba with 1,023 exhibitors from 22 African countries. KwaZulu-Natal hosted the Indaba at the Durban ICC. Altogether, 8,629 delegates attended, with no fewer than 1,000 international buyers.

The Indaba is considered one of the most significant events in the tourism industry and serves as a platform to showcase proudly South African products. KZN premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube said in terms of the overall economic impact of the event, the estimated projected total direct tourism spend was R45 million, while the projected contribution to the gross domestic product is R130 million.

Parys forms part of the Lion tourism route in the Free State and, as such, had the excellent opportunity of marketing the town as a tourism destination, especially with it being economically dependent on the tourism industry.

According to Werda Visser, who represented Parys Info & Tourism at the Indaba, they had the opportunity to meet and network with local and international tourism-related businesses.

Besides Parys Info & Tourism, Egweni, Stonehenge and the Parys Golf & Country Estate also represented Parys at the Indaba, along with Ngwathe’s executive mayor Victoria de Beer.
