The Executive Mayor of Fezile Dabi District Municipality, Cllr Max Moshodi, officially launched the Grens Project in Parys three months ago. This is a 1, 5 kilometers street that join Parys, Tumahole and Vredefort.
“We have launched a number of projects both in Ngwathe local Municipality and Mafube to assist with speeding up service delivery,” Moshodi said.
“Our role and responsibility as the district is to support Local Municipalities. We might not be offering basic service delivery directly but there is nothing wrong by providing support in order to accelerate provision of these services, and that is the reason we are working close with the Executive Mayors, and Mayors of these municipalities, to find common grounds as to how do we assist one another for the benefit of the broader development of our community, said Moshodi.
In the 2014/15 financial year the Municipality revamped Kruis Street in Parys and spent about R10 million on this project. The reason we dentified roads in Ngwathe especially in Parys, is because the majority of the community complained about the status of roads in this town during IDP meetings.
The Grens Street Project is now 95% complete.
“Yes we are excited that the Grens street project is almost complete. There were delays because of rain and other logistics, but all that we manage to overcome. The Municipality spent about ten million on revamping this road”, said Moshodi.
