Supporting the blood drive helped changing more than 200 lives

The SANBS is building blood stock levels before the Easter period and needs your support.

A total of 75 blood donors supported the South African National Blood Service’s (SANBS) Blood Drive that was held on Tuesday 14 March, in partnership with Parys Rotary and Overvaal Stereo “Because of your commitment to saving lives, we are able to change the lives of over two hundred patients,” the SANBS said, thanking the community of Parys for celebrating the gift of life by supporting the blood drive.
The SANBS proudly welcomed 16 donors back, and encouraged blood donors , who have not donated blood in a while, to please re-join the life-saving movement by donating blood regularly.
During the recent blood drive one new blood donor signed up, the SANBS said. SANBS also calls upon the youth – those 16 years and above, and all who are able to, to register to become blood donors as the SANBS is building blood stock levels before the Easter period and needs your support.
To become a blood donor, you must:
* Be between the ages of 16 and 75 years
* Weigh 50kg or more
* Lead a healthy lifestyle
* Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient
The community of Parys is invited to donate blood on Thursday, 30 March at the Reformed Church Hall in Parys, Corner of Loop & Paulsen Street, from 12:00– 18:00.
