Six distinctions for Phehellang’s Tshepiso
Tshepiso will be studying Actuarial Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand.


Tshepiso Pilane, a learner of the 2022 matric class of Phehellang Secondary School, excelled with no fewer than six distinctions in the National Senior Certificate examination.
Tshepiso got A symbols for Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Science, English, Geography and Life Orientation.

The MEC for Education in the Free State invited him to attend the Top 100 Matric Achiever Award Function, along with the school’s Maths and History teachers, Mr J.B. Motloung (Mathematics), Mr SM Letsatsi (Mathematics), Mr T.J. Twala (History) and Ms N.J. Plaatjie (History). This after the school’s matric Mathemetics results earned an eighth position in the Free State, with 95 learners enrolled for the exam.
Phehellang’s school principal, Mrs Dimakatso Maloyi-Mofokeng, told Gazette the school would receive R100,000 for their performance in Mathematics.
She represented the school at the Well Done function for best-performing schools in every category.
Tshepiso was also among the top 20 learners in the Fezile Dabi region, whom Sasol rewarded for excellent results in the final matric exam. Tumahole Legacy, in turn, acknowledged Tshepiso as one of the top matric achievers in the Ngwathe area.
Tshepiso will be studying Actuarial Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Mrs Maloyi-Mofokeng said the school would forever be proud to have taught such a dedicated and focused individual.
