Little Omri is home at last

Thank you to all who prayed for Omri

One year old little Omri is home at last – and all smiles.
Omri came home from hospital on Friday 11 November. For the first time he is able to drink 70ml milk from his bottle.

Hospital personnel and speech therapists had to train Omri to drink again and although there are still challenges to overcome, tremendous progress has been made with the help doctors and nursing personnel at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Johannesburg General Hospital and Potchefstroom Hospital.
Doctors at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital operated earlier on him to clear an abdominal obstruction and to wrap the top of his stomach around the lower esophagus to make it less likely that acid will back up in the esophagus.
Omri also has an enlarged heart chamber.

Before the agte of five months, he started having trouble swallowing, and ever since had a feeding tube because of severe reflux. At the time of his admission to hispital he only weighed 7kg.
Recently he celebrated his first birthday at Emunah – the only place he knows as home. But shortly after his birthday, his condition deteriorated and he was admitted to hospital.
There are many challenges and costs involved in looking after children like Omri who was abandoned by his mother and left in the baby safe at Emunah when he was only a month old. Since the day he was found, he had been loved and cared for at Emunah.
Thank you to all who prayed for Omri and had reached out to Emunah helping to provide a home for children like Omri, who only knows the dak side of life Some who are no longer wanted by their parents – other neglected or mistreated, or who must be temporarily taken out of their circumstances.
Any contributions are welcome at Emunah, 50 First Avenue, or make a contribution to: Emunah Foundation NPC, Standard Bank, account number 042317983, branch code 051001. Emunah also needs a reliable vehicle.
