Blue-light hijackers strike again

A bakkie owner was robbed of his vehicle in yet another blue-light hijacking in the Carletonville area this week.

The 52-year-old owner was driving his Isuzu bakkie on the N14 from Krugersdorp. As he neared the crossing with the R500, a white BMW with blue lights pulled him over. Two men wearing JMPD (Johannesburg Metro Police Department) uniforms told him his vehicle was overloaded. Suddenly, a green Toyota Yaris also stopped at the scene.

The four occupants got out and started talking to the JMPD officers. They grabbed the owner of the bakkie and forced him into their vehicle. Two of them got into his truck while the others drove off with him.

They later dropped him on the side of the road. Luckily, the incident happened in our area, so he managed to get help and report it to the police.
