Little Omri is smiling again

There is still a long road to recovery ahead

If all goes well and doctors are satisfied with his progress, little Omri from the Emunah Foundation, will be moved from the ICU at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital. There will be given speech therapy and trained to drink again.

Little Omri is doing well after doctors operated on him in the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. They cleared an abdominal obstruction and wrapped the top of his stomach around the lower oesophagus to help prevent acid from backing up in the oesophagus.
Omri has several health challenges, including an enlarged heart chamber. Before the age of five months, he started having trouble swallowing and has had a feeding tube ever since because of severe reflux. This little boy only weighs seven kilogrammes.
He recently celebrated his first birthday at Emunah – the only place he knows as home. But shortly after his birthday, his condition deteriorated, and he was admitted to the hospital. At the time of print, he was still in ICU, and a long road to recovery lay ahead.
There are many challenges and costs involved in caring for children like Omri. His mother abandoned him and left him in the baby safe at Emunah when he was only a month old. Since then, Emunah has loved and cared for him.
Thank you to all who prayed for Omri and reached out to Emunah, helping to provide a home for these children who only know the dark side of life. Some parents no longer want them – others are neglected or mistreated or must be removed from their circumstances temporarily.
Emunah, 50 First Avenue, welcomes any contributions. The banking details are Emunah Foundation NPC, Standard Bank, account number 042317983 and branch code 051001. Emunah also needs a reliable vehicle urgently.
