Fun walk/run to raise much needed funds for local SPCA

Remember the SPCA wish list

A 5km and 10km Spring Fun Walk/Run in aid of the local SPCA was held on 21 September at the Parys Golf & Country Estate. About 80 keen walkers and runners supported the event of whom mostly did the 5km route together with their four legged friends.
Participants couldn’t have asked for better weather conditions after quite a windy day earlier on Wednesday, and families and individuals enjoyed the event equally.
Among the prizes up for grabs was a prize for the first men and women to complete the disctance, and prizes for the first, second and third fastest dog and owner to finish.
Congratulations to Tara Walmsley and her dad, Andrew Beckerling – the first man and woman to finish. The father and daughter duo also completed the Comrades together this year.
The first dog to be in was Basjan together with his owner, Hendrik Scheepers.

Remember the SPCA wish list. They need cat litter, cat food, mops and brooms for the kennels and offices, toys for cats and dogs to play with, kitten and puppy pellets, cleaning products such as washing powder, disinfectants, pinegel and jik. If you can help drop off your donation at the SPCA office in the industrial area.
