Securing key points in water and electricity network can bring an end to sabotage, theft

The escalation in incidents of theft, sabotage and vandalism at key points in Ngwathe’s water- and electricity supply network, is calling for drastic action now.

The criminal activity is both frustrating and costly to Parys, its business owners and residents.
As a joint initiative between the Ngwathe Municipality and the Parys Development Forum, the possibility of installing security camera systems at three key points in the town’s water- and electricity network, has been investigated, was said at last week’s Parys Business Network meeting at Pickled Pig.

The success of these security camera systems installed alongside roads and at other key points in the area, have already proven to be extremely successful to fight crime, and can hopefully bring an end to the frequent losses suffered by the municipality, business owners and residents, was said.

An example of the impact of sabotage was once again seen recently at the town’s water purification plant.
Once installed the cameras will be monitored 24/7 with immediate response, should any criminal activities be picked up.

For the installation of the security camera systems at the three key points identified, an amount of at least R330 000 is needed, for which support from the business community as well as residents is much needed to help with funding.

The project will be done in phases with at least R50 000 needed for the first phase of the installation.
The business sector and residents can contribute towards bringing an end to this criminal activity threatening municipal infrastructure, by making a donation in the following account: Parys Ontwikkelings Forum, FNB, Gold Business Account, Account Number 63005811773, Branch Code 230736, Branch Name PARYS.

A huge thank you to the owners of Pickled Pig for their hospitality in hosting another very successful opportunity for businessowners in Parys to meet and
network. Remember Business Network meetings is every first Wednesday of the month.

The July meeting will be on 6 July. Contact Louise at Parys Info on (056) 811 4000 for the dates and more information about the Parys Business Network meetings.
