Freedom Day Run for parkrunners at Egweni River Lodge

Freedom Day Run for parkrunners at Egweni River Lodge

It is customary for parkrunners in South Africa to participate in the annual Freedom Run on Freedom Day, 27 April, and log it as an official parkrun. Egweni River Lodge parkrun’s event organisers in Parys are proud to announce that they will have a full team of relief volunteers this year.

This will ensure that most regular volunteers and current RDs (run directors) and the ED (event director) get an opportunity to participate as runners to log their event as an official parkrun. Not all South African parkrun events can host a Freedom Run on that day, so we expect quite a few tourist runners to join us and log an extra tourist run.

The Egweni River Lodge parkrun is relatively new, with fewer than 30 events so far. This is a clarion call to all local parkrunners to come and enjoy your Freedom parkrun at Egweni River Lodge at the usual time of 08:00 on Wednesday, 27 April 2022. Experience the cool, flowing waters of the Vaal River and relax with a cup of hot coffee on the lodge premises afterwards, reminiscing about your morning run in the company of fellow parkrunners.

Remember – you can walk, jog or run as long as you finish before the tail walker, who must ensure that all participants end before her.
