Parys road runners at the Klerksdorp Marathon

Roadrunners from Parys Multisport gathered at High School Wesvalia to participate in the Klerksdorp Marathon on Sunday, 13 February.
About 800 runners laced up for this road running event that offered 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km, and a five-km fun run to choose from. Rising early and finding your way to the start of a big race at the crack of dawn is part of the experience. Parys Multisport’s athletes once again showed up and finished the race in high spirits.

Lauwrence Mohale finished the marathon in a time of 03:45:13. Father and daughter team, Tara Walmsley and Andrew Beckerling finished the marathon at an official time of 04:01:58.
Abraham Khoali entered for the half-marathon and finished 10th in his age category, with a time of 01:44:48.
In the 10 km race, we had Thomas Coetzer (00:47:07), Antoinette Becher (01:03:54), Lize-Ann Luiz (01:03:54), Hannelie Becher (01:15:50) and Mamokete Sekete (01:18:38). Thomas finished first in the veteran men category and Mamokete earned herself a third position in the 60-year-old women category.
