Small earthquake rattles buildings

Many residents felt the earth shaking under their feet and chairs yesterday afternoon.

According to the website volcanodiscovery.com the quake measured 3.3 on the Richter Scale. It occurred 5.6 km east of Carletonville at 14:09.

The biggest recent earthquake in the West Rand measured 3.6 on the Richter Scale and occurred 31 km northwest of Krugersdorp on 1 February.
