National minimum wage increases - here’s what you need to know

 

 

 

As from 1 March General Workers, Farm Workers and Domestic employees will all receive the same rate per hour.

The Department of Labour has announced that the National Minimum Wage for these sectors, will increase as from 1 March 2022 to R 23,19 per hour.

This is a substantial increase for specifically the Domestic Sector.

The current National Minimum Wage for General Workers and Farm Workers is R 21,69 per hour.

Domestic employees currently receive R 19,09 per hour.

Employers of these sectors must take notice that the March salaries/wages for General Workers, Farm Workers and Domestic workers, must be calculated at the new rate of R23,19 per hour. Employers are urged not to unilaterally change the terms and conditions of the above- mentioned employees.
