First myrun junior to complete 100 runs

Marise Duvenhage joined myrun together with her mother, Elise Duvenhage, back in December 2018 when she was only seven years old. Marise is also a dedicated Cross Country runner and, if you look closely, you will see her footprints on the Free State Championship course in Bloem- fontein. But, it is at myrun where she inspires and earned the undisputed respect of her fellow runners in the past four years. On 9 January 2022, Marise became the first runner in the “myrun Juniors” category to complete 100 myruns. “It is very rare to see Marise just showing up to run. She is always there as a volunteer too.

When the venue is set up and ready for the runners, she will take off for her run… usually with a big dog beside her on a leash,” says Pierre Fourie, the race director of the myrun at Parys Golf & Country Estate. With her experience and dedication as a runner, you will find yourself in the presence of a mature runner in the shape of an 11-year-old girl who can teach most adult runners a thing or two about running. “A truly committed runner, volunteer, and inspiration for all of us.” Register online at myrun.org.za and join the myrun community at the Parys Golf and Country Estate on Sunday mornings for a 2.5 km or 5 km walk/run.

  • Remember the myrun at Parys Golf & Country Estate every Sunday at 08:00.
