FOUR SUSPECTS WANTED FOR TRUCK HIJACKING

The Zamdela Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) appeal to members of the community
to assist with information regarding tracing and arrest of the four (4) suspects on the run after hijacking
a truck on the R57 route passing Zamdela towards Heilbron.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 28 January 2022 at about 06:50. The complainant (51) alleges that
he was driving a company truck from Gauteng province passing through Zamdela heading to Lesotho.
On his way towards the R57 10 kilometers from R549 turn off, he noticed a white Jetta Volkswagen
vehicle driving on the lane next overtaking him. The vehicle had the driver and three more passengers.
The passenger seated in front was wearing a reflector jacket having an SAPS emblem indicated to the
truck driver to pull over on the side of the road. The truck driver stopped, one of the passengers got off
from the vehicle and pointed the truck driver with a firearm. His hands were tied with cable ties and face
covered with a jacket. One suspect who was a passenger in the white Jetta vehicle drove the truck whilst
the three others remained in the vehicle with the complainant. The suspects then made a U-turn driving
back towards Vanderbijlpark, which is where they later left the complainant in an open ground. They
managed to disconnect the tracker there and then left off with both the truck and vehicle.
The complainant later managed to untie himself and seeked for assistance. The four wanted suspects
fled off with a white Nissan UD truck with registration number BF22YV GP estimated to the value of
R600 000.00. The truck was loaded with mechanical equipment estimated to the value of R500 000.
Anyone with information that may assist the police in tracking the suspects may contact Constable
Kgaugelo Muvhango on 076 791 5740 or MySAPS App for anonymous tip-off.
The Acting Fezile Dabi District Commissioner Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane strongly warns motorist
from stopping their vehicles at a place whereby their safety will be easily compromised. “Members should
always be alert at all times for such perpetrators imposing to be police officials. If a police member stops
you, they should be in a police marked vehicle and in full uniform which will most likely be during crime
combatting operations. Please ensure that should you have any suspicions of a vehicle or person
stopping you, do not stop but rather drive off to the nearest police station or a public place where you
can find assistance “, concluded Brigadier Mbeloane
