Restoration of supply to storm affected Free State

Restoration of supply to storm affected Free State

The Free State province experienced severe inclement weather over the past weeks. The abnormal rainfall, with wind and hailstorms, resulted in damages to several electricity power poles, structures and transformers. As a result, there is a significant number of power supply interruptions, affecting a huge number of customers, throughout the province.

Eskom technicians are facing wet and muddy terrain, resulting in difficulty accessing the sites. The wet conditions are also resulting in trucks and vehicles getting stuck.

Electricity restoration times are severely affected, and Eskom requests affected customers to please be patient and to treat all electricity appliances as live during this time.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the supply interruption and ensure customers that the repairs are being attended to with the required urgency.

Overhead power cables that are damaged, collapsed or low-hanging as a result of stormy weather conditions, vandalism and illegal connections, can be life-threatening for people or animals who come into contact with it.  Unsafe electrical installations should be reported to Eskom on 08600 37566 / ESKOM or to the relevant local municipality.
