42,2 km for Attie in the Mother City

42,2 km for Attie in the Mother City

On 16 October 2021, Cape Town showed the rest of the world how it is done by hosting the Sanlam Cape Town City Marathon. The event also hosted the ASA 42,2 km national road running championships and happened to be Africa’s first Marathon Major to put the continent, our runners and our diverse culture on the world running stage.

Despite the challenges imposed by strict Covid compliance and safety regulations, Attie Koekemoer from Parys, running in the colours of Parys Multisport Club, competed in the 42.2 km distance and finished the race in a time of 04:15:38.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
