Body found in Vaal River; please help find his family

 

An inquest docket is under investigation by Viljoensdrif SAPS police after body of a man was found in Vaal River behind Richmond Village in Viljoensdrif on Thursday 16 September at about 11:00. The police were called to the river by a man who went fishing. It is alleged that he smelled a foul smell and investigated. On discovery of a floating body he called the police and other roleplayers who certified the man dead after removal from the river by SAPS Divers from Bloemfontein. The deceased is an unknown adult male who is about 35 yrs old, 1,75m tall in height and weighing about 75kg. He has a golden upper tooth in his mouth and was dressed in a blue and white T shirt with a blue pair of jeans.

His corpse was already decomposed, estimated to have been about 14 to 20 days in the water. An inquest was opened for investigation as no foul play is suspected at this stage.

Investigating Officer D/WO Johan Du Toit requests community members to assist in tracing the next of kin of this deceased unknown man. Anyone with information may contact WO du Toit on 082 301 3033.
