Not all who registered showed up for vaccination

The Department of Health this week expressed its concern that not all people who registered for vaccination have taken the time to go and be vaccinated. The Department urges all people 18 years and older to get vaccinated at a site nearest to them as soon as possible. According to Mondli Mvambi, the spokesperson for the Free State Department of Health, the vaccination process can be sped up by registering before people get to the vaccination site.

When you register online, you can choose when and where to go, says Mvambi. S

he added that the department is aware that the system sometimes sends people to go and get vaccinated in places that are far from where they live, but assured that people should simply go to the nearest and most convenient vaccination site.

She confirmed that there is no need to wait for an SMS to be vaccinated. For any questions or concerns, you can call 0800 029 999.

Last week, the Free State Department of Health was faced with challenges in admitting and billing patients in their hospitals via the electronic system, due to a fire at the department’s Fidel Castro building in Bloemfontein. These processes were then done manually. Unfortunately, it also affected the recording of Covid-19 cases on the electronic system. However, the vaccination campaign was not affected and is going well, as planned, Mvambi said.
