Home Schoolers hit the track

Contrary to popular belief, becoming a “home schooler” does not mean the end of competitive sport. On Friday 3 September this became reality for an excited group of home schoolers when
they met on the track for their first group training session presented by ASA coach, Pierre Fourie from Parys Multisport.
Finding a sport to participate in, and compete against other athletes, usually present many challenges for home schoolers.
The main contributing factors revolve around access to facilities, cost of private coaching, and opportunities to compete outside the mainstream school environment.
Since its inception in 2018 Parys Multisport was set on making athletics accessible to everyone.
“Finding a viable athletics career path for home schoolers did not come easy”, says Pierre. “Aside from the expected challenges, we had to un-school and find creative ways to define new athletic
career paths for these athletes within existing ASA structures.”
During the 2021 athletics season Parys Multisport was proudly represented by home schoolers on regional, provincial and national levels.
Parys Multisport is affiliated with Athletics South Africa and
home schoolers who are interested in participating or competing in athletics are most welcome to join our world of sport. Email info@parysmultisport.co.za or call 056-817 1465 for more information.
