Vivienne to perform in World Monologue Games regional finals

Local actor, Vivienne van der Schyff, has been selected for the World Monologue Games regional finals – one of 27 events featuring the best international competitors. This event attracts competitors from around the world each year. It has been a challenging 18 months for the arts but the global pandemic hasn’t affected Vivienne’s love for performing. “I’m so excited that I get to compete for my country, doing what I love. It’s really fantastic to be part of this amazing event,” she said when opening her inbox to the happy news that she had made the event’s regional finals, competing with the best of the best from around the world.

The Aussie, Pete Malicki, set up the World Monologue Games last year; he wanted a lockdown-friendly platform for performers. Malicki says, “It’s definitely special to have our second season take place in an Olympics year. We have the best performers from 51 countries all getting together to show the world what they’re made of. I’m not sure where else you can see such a diverse range of actors all in the same place.” Vivienne has been selected with a monologue about testing positive for cystic fibrosis.

The regional finals will be live-streamed from August to October 2021, with the winners of six different categories competing for $5,000 cash in the presti- gious global finals.
