Mall closes as precautionary measure following unrest and looting

River Square Shopping Centre is one of many local businesses in the Vaal that decided to close as a result of riots breaking out across the country.

The mall said in a statement that tenants had been urged to discontinue trade with immediate effect as a precautionary measure.

“Additional security and riot control are on standby should we be affected by the unrest,” the mall said in a statement.

“For now, the closure will apply from today, 12 July 2021, and the situation will be monitored on a day-to-day basis.

“The safety of our customers and tenants are of the utmost importance to us, and further closures will be communicated via our social media pages,” the shopping centre said in a statement.

The shopping mall apologised for any inconvenience caused.
