Mediclinic amends visiting hours with rise in Covid patients

Mediclinic Potchefstroom confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that amendments have been made to the current visitation arrangement as a result of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases presenting for care in Potchefstroom.

Mediclinic Potchefstroom confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that amendments have been made to the current visitation arrangement as a result of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases presenting for care in Potchefstroom.

“We believe the safety of patients and staff is of the utmost importance and that the revised visitor measures will limit the risk of infection for our patients. This decision will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary,” said Dr Gerrit de Villiers, the group general manager: clinical performance, Mediclinic International.

Non-Covid patients can still have one visitor per patient between 11:00 and 17:00 daily.
Visitation for patients who are Covid-19 positive or those suspected to be is restricted. However, exceptions will be made for critically ill patients, wherever possible and safe.
“Mediclinic will continue to support engagement with family and friends through electronic communication channels to encourage the vital support these relationships provide in the healing process,” said De Villiers.

Mediclinic Potchefstroom implores the community to strictly adhere to all recommended measures to reduce their risk of infection. This includes masking in public, social distancing and avoiding any congested public areas. We ask individuals to stay at home if they are unwell to reduce the risk for vulnerable members of the community.
