These yummy chocolate Easter egg nests are a great way to spend quality time with your kids and need only a handful of ingredients to make.

With Easter just around the corner, you may be tempted to stock up on store-bought Easter eggs, hens, and bunnies. Why not spend a morning with your kids in the kitchen and make these easy (and cost-effective) chocolate Easter egg nests instead? We show you how in three easy steps.

*Makes around 8 chocolate nests

Ingredients

  • 5 Weet-Bix
  • 75g milk chocolate
  • 75g plain chocolate
  • 50g butter
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup
  • mini candy-coated eggs

Method

  1. Crush the Weet-Bix into a bowl with your fingers. Break the chocolate into pieces and put it into a saucepan together with the butter and golden syrup and melt over gentle heat.
  2. Line two baking sheets with non-stick baking paper. Stir the Weet-Bix into the chocolate mixture and spoon eight mounds onto the baking sheets, shaping into rounds with dips in the centre.
  3. Chill in the fridge for several hours until set, then peel off the nests carefully and fill with mini eggs.
