New regulations for visitors at Potchefstroom Hospital

As of Monday, 30 November, The Department of Health, North West Province has issued strict measures for visitors at the Potchefstroom Hospital.

 

  • Visitors must be 18 years or older, except in special circumstances.
  • Visitors over 60 years may only visit in exceptional circumstances (those with comorbidities are discouraged from visiting)
  • No more than one (1) visitor may visit a patient during each visitation session.
  • Visitation hours 15h00 until 16h00 (only limited to one (1) hour).
  • All visitors must undergo screening before being allowed in without any exceptions.
  • All visitors to wear a facial mask.
  • No visitors who are ill or identified through screening or symptomatic will be permitted to visit without any exceptions.
  • Visitors must remain at the patient’s bedside throughout the visit unless instructed otherwise by the hospital staff.
  • No visitors allowed in Wards 1, 2, and 3.
  • Special visitation may be granted by the hospital CEO, such as imminent end of life or a specific patient needing extra support.

All visitors are encouraged to remain closely connected to their loved ones through virtual means, including WhatsApp, Skype, face time, or telephone calls.
