Another setback for licencing station

No good news for Parys residents

The Traffic Department’s Licencing and Testing Station in Parys, has yet again had another setback after a heavy thunderstorm last week Tuesday caused extensive damage to the 2 LEU machines used for most transaction at the station – including eye testing. Although a technician was on site yesterday (Tuesday 17 November), the machines had to be send away for repairs, Hilary Mophethe of Corporate Communication, Department of Police, Roads and Transport said. This now means that only transactions for the renewal of vehicle licence discs, and collection of renewed drivers licences of which the transaction for renewal had been completed before or on 10 November, can be done now at the Parys Licencing and Testing Station, For all other transactions the public will have to go to their nearest testing station. For Parys the nearest will be Sasolburg or Koppies. It is anticipated that all services will only be rendered at the Parys Station again in 2021.

This photo was taken in August this year at the Traffic Department’s Licencing and Testing Station in Parys where personnel worked hard to catch up with the lockdown backlog. On the photo are Kesentseng Moleko, Zodwa Mohapi and Thembi Zitha at one of the LEU machines that was hit by lightning during a heavy thunderstorm last week.

  • The Vredefort Licencing and Testing Station was closed in September 2019 after a burglary during which the computers were stolen. These computers were linked to the eNaTis Traffic System whih is managed by the Road Traffic Management Corporation. Up to now there had not been funds available to replace the computers,

The Vredefort Licencing and Testing Station therefore is still closed.
