Police in Odendaalsrus request assistance from the community to locate a fraud
suspect known as Riaan Botes (39). It is alleged that Riaan, a white male, will book into a guest
house and after a few days disappear without paying.
It is alleged that the suspect will claim to be working for a company in Namibia, and that his motor
vehicle broke down and he needs a place to stay until his vehicle has been repaired.
He further states that his employer will pay the fees for his accommodation, before he disappear.
He will leave with the keys as well as the remotes for the gates. It is also stated that Riaan Botes
used the same modus operandi recently in Welkom and Odendaalsrus where he also stole a
television from the room he occupied in the latter.
