September brings with it the beginning of spring which is often symbolic of new life and a new start for people after suffering at the mercy of the cold of winter. Coming slowly out of a distressing period brought on by the onslaught of the Coronavirus, we look forward to the reprieve promised by warm weather and the opportunity to rebuild our country.   Even as the seasons change, the demand for blood and blood products remains. September is also Heritage Month when our country’s people celebrate their cultural distinctiveness and all the things that make us unique, while embracing the stories that bring us together.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) calls on everyone to celebrate something that everyone has in common, blood.   In the drive to consistently provide safe blood to patients across the country, the SANBS appeals to blood donors to continue to make a difference. “Blood donation is a great way of knowing you may be able to give someone else more time with to observe more celebratory day moments with their friends and families. We urge you to spare 30 minutes of your time to make a life-saving difference this Heritage Day,” said Silungile Mlambo, SANBS Chief Marketing Officer.

Expressing our heritage goes beyond taking pride in cultural roots – it is also about embracing the complex and multifaceted community that is South Africa. So, while you consider your unique celebration of Heritage Day this year, make time for an act of kindness and help the SANBS to sustain one of our country’s most treasured resource, our nation’s blood supply.   Join the SANBS family of donors dedicated to giving others the gift of life. With one blood donation, you can save a minimum of three lives.

Please donate blood in Parys: Tuesday 8 September & Thursday 10 September 2020 Reformed Church Hall 11:00 – 18:00 100 units of blood and more Your blood saves lives
