No plan as yet to open town’s public library

Although libraries are allowed to reopen under the current lockdown regulations for level 3, there still is no plan to open the public facility in Parys. The spokesperson for the Free State Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, responsible for the public library, Mr Zola, confirmed to Gazette that the government had stipulated that libraries must show their readiness to comply with all safety and health regulations.

They would have to apply to the minister and prove compliance with the Covid-19 pandemic protocols. Zola said the department was preparing for the opening and that dates for reopening the Free State libraries would be communicated. While some municipal libraries have already reopened, the public libraries in Parys no longer fall under the jurisdiction of the Ngwathe Municipality.
