Covid-19 protocol followed at Parys hospital

All divisions at Parys District Hospital is functioning as before after outsourced disinfection was done at Casualty and the corridors on 27 June.

This follows after a 56 year old patient was admitted at Casualty on 23 June. Due to a high temperature a Covid-19 swab was taken immediately upon admission, and was the patient taken to an isolation room as precausion. Patients at Casualty were also re-directed, while terminal disinfection was done on 25 June.

Sadly the patient passed away on 24 June and as test results was not yet known, the corpse was handled as a positive Covid-19 case.

Test results in the meanwhile did confirm that the patient was Covid-19 positive.

The Department of Health gave the public the asssurance that all Covid-19 operational protocols had been followed with regard to both health workers and patients entering the hospital premises.
