* As from Friday, 19 June, this colour-coded municipal rotation load-shedding schedule will apply to Parys, Tumahole and Schonkenville. It is set up with the assumption that the load limit will be exceeded at most times. However, there might be times when it will not be necessary to implement load-shedding, or it may be lifted before the end of the scheduled time.
Some days, it might not start at 05:00 and not carry on till 22:00. However, it is better to be prepared for the scheduled time slots.
* For load-shedding purposes, Parys, Tumahole and Schonkenville have been divided into four blocks.
* Make sure which area you are in, rather than rely on the street list.
Find out which area you are in by comparing the times you are off with the schedule. Do not assume that any other outages are also load-shedding, or that the municipality has not kept to the plan.
Report outages without delay. Over the past week, several faults were reported that were not outages due to rotational load-shedding.

By posting a Facebook or WhatsApp post on a group, you can not merely regard the fault as being reported.
* Please notify the authorities if you get load- shedding in more than one colour-coded block. There may be streets that don’t appear on the list or are listed in more than one area.

* Remember, there are streets where not all the houses will be on the same line. You may fall in a different area from neighbours on the opposite side of the road.
* The schedule is worked out throughout the day from Monday to Sunday. The duration of the load- shedding is, for the most part, two hours during the day and three hours for the last time slot.
Load shedding should not affect the same area more than twice a day.
* Load rotation is aimed at preventing damage on the one remaining Eskom 20mVA transformer.
* Voltage could be low while amperage is high when the electricity comes back on after an outage.
It is, therefore, advisable to switch off the plug sockets to your appliances during load-shedding and to wait 10 minutes after the power supply has been restored, for voltage to stabilise before switching on again.
