The Free State Department of Health confirmed  a total of 33 positive cases of Covid-19 in the Fezile Dabi district.
The department said it had spent a considerable time verifying the recent 24 cases that tested positive to Covid-19 in Fezile Dabi, and added that the department is doing its best to trace all the contacts of people that tested positive.
The recent cases are for the following towns:
•9 in Heilbron
•4 in Koppies
•3 in Sasolburg
•3 in Parys
•2 in Frankfort
•1 in Vredefort
•1 in Kroonstad
•1 in Deneysville

The department appealed to people in the affected communities to stay calm and take care by practicing the basic principles of hygiene such as:
•Washing your hands with running water and soap for between 20 and 40 seconds,
•Use 70% alcohol based hand sanitizer if you can’t access water and soap,
• Cover your cough and sneeze with your folded arm or with a tissue that must be easily and safely disposed in a closed lid bin.
•Use your three ply or layered cloth face mask whenever you leave your home and going to public places,
•Keep a safe social distance of 1 to 2 meters between yourself and the next person.
•No handshaking, hugging and kissing.

Each person in our communities can practice the above mentioned prevention actions and help to curb the spread of Covid-19, the department said.

“There is no evidence that this virus is airborne. However, it is spread through droplets that can land on a person through cough and sneeze, or through touching surfaces that have these droplets and then touching your mouth, nose and eyes with unclean hands.”

The department asked people not to panick when they hear that there’s a Covid-19 case in any town. “Although there’s no cure to Covid-19, we know that there’s a higher number of recoveries,” the department said.

People with underlying health issues is asked to take extra care to avoid getting sick. “We plead for proactive prevention actions from everyone by following the basic health hygiene practices and staying away from environments that can infect you.”

Every Covid19 person must be safely kept in isolation facility as may be prescribed by health officials or safely quarantined in health department facilities.
