Promosa Clinic closed after nurse tests positive for Covid-19

According to North West MEC for Health, Madoda Sambatha, Wednesday evening around 21:00, he received results that a nurse at Promosa Clinic had tested positive for Covid-19.

“We took decisive action to immediately close the facility to allow for decontamination. A mobile facility has been deployed to ensure access and continued service delivery until the decontamination of the facility has been completed,” he stated.

The District and Sub-District Outbreak Response Teams have started with contact for patients, fellow staff members, and their families.

All the staff members of the clinic are going to be placed in isolation for the next 14 days.

“The Outbreak Response Teams are checking the suitability of their homes for self-quarantine. If the homes do not meet the criteria for self-quarantine, they will be taken to a designated quarantine site. This also applies to their families and patients, ” Madoda added.

The Department has appointed additional staff members who will serve at other facilities. However, the department will scale down the services, such as operation and maternity services.
