Stolen cables recovered

Fast work by security guards stopped cable thieves in their tracks.

According to Mr Thomas du Preez of CPI Security in Carletonville, he and colleagues were doing routine patrols at around 02:30 on Tuesday when they spotted something suspicious between Carletonville Extension 9 and Carletonville Mall.
Upon closer inspection, they found that cable thieves had started removing the brand new cable to Carletonville Mall.
They had already pulled the cable from the ditch and were ready to cut and remove it from the site.
With the help of their German Shephard tracking dog, Kufa, the security personnel recovered all the cables and the shovels the thieves had used to dig it out.
Security personnel also had similar success when they stopped metal thieves from fleeing with equipment that were stolen from the Merafong City Local Municipality’s Marico electrical substation in Coronation Street last week.
